Momma’s Boy March 12, 2010

I’m feeling a little insignificant at the moment.  Kind of like I’m just the incubator that grew Cory’s son for 9 months.  So this post is going to be about me and Mason.  I would like everyone to leave me a comment telling me what physical feature or personality characteristic that Mason got from me.  For those who may not know us in person, here are photos of me as a baby and Mason at roughly the same age.

Milestones March 7, 2010

Thursday as Mason was chewing on my finger, I felt something sharp.  I looked in his mouth and didn’t see anything or feel anything, so I just thought I imagined it.  Then yesterday I saw it… his first tooth!  He has been drooling, and chewing on everything in sight since Christmas and finally, over two months later, the tooth broke through!  And then he slept so much better last night… he was only up to nurse twice.  Much better than every 2 hours!  I hope this lasts!

Also yesterday Mason sat up alone for about 30 seconds.  I was able to snap this picture…

Yay for Mason!  He is growing up so fast!

He is wearing a Thirsties All In One Pocket Diaper in this photo.  The thing we love most about Thirsties are the leg gussets… perfect for keeping leaks at bay.  And the AIO is so easy to use!  Perfect for daddy’s and babysitters!

New goals March 4, 2010

Well after a month of Project 365 I’ve decided to make some changes. Thinking that I would be able to blog on a daily basis while caring for a 4 month old was very naive of me. Hmm, I believe my words were “how hard can it be?”. Well the answer is: HARD! Sometimes I go for days without touching the laptop. Thank God for my “crackberry”!! At least I’m able to check facebook and twitter periodically on my phone! If not for the Blackberry I’d be having serious withdrawals! Even this post is being typed one handed as I hold my sleeping baby.

Sometimes it is frustrating to not have time to do things I want to do. But I wouldn’t trade my time with Mason for ANYTHING! Not even a three hour massage! Though I could really use one right about now! I have been so blessed to have such a perfect little boy. He’s healthy, happy (usually), and he is the most beautiful boy on Earth! Yeah I may be a little biased but I know it’s true!! . And I am blessed to be able to stay at home with him. He is my world!

So back to the point… changes. I will be coming up with a new name for the blog and I’ll be posting once or twice per week.

Mason and I started attending a Breastfeeding Support Group when he was only a few weeks old.  There are babies of all ages, moms who work, moms who stay home, and a Lactation Consultant at our meetings, once a month.  I would recommend that any new mom who wants to breastfeed attend our group or another group like it.  Support is the key to successfully breastfeeding!  Here is Mason and some of his freinds from our support group meeting last night.

Tonight Mason hung out with his little buddy Gavin.  They are only a month and a half apart in age.  Mason kept wanting to touch him but he wasn’t very interested.  They did smile at each other.  Just wait till they get older, they’ll be into everything!

Thursday Feb. 25th February 26, 2010

Monday evening we attended my nephew’s violin performance.  Here he is practicing before the big show.

He did an awesome job!!

And sometime during the evening, my keys fell out of the diaper bag.  So on Tuesday when Mason and I were getting ready to head to our infant massage class I realized we were stranded!  We missed lunch with friends too.  When Cory came home we were able to look in the trunk of my car using his key and found them!  So anyway, I was hoping to have a photo from our infant massage class or our lunch date, but no such luck.

Here is Mason with his first Valentine’s gift- a talking Elmo doll.  He LOVES it!  He hugs it and kisses it!  And he learned to push his hand to make him talk by day 3!

Wednesday was my niece, Pyper’s birthday.  We went to eat at her favorite mexican restaurant…

Mason has been trying to grab my drink all the time lately, so I decided to try giving him some water in a sippy cup with his cereal tonight.  He did great!  He loves drinking out of the cup, and I’m afraid he won’t want to nurse anymore!

The weekend February 23, 2010

Friday Mason and I went to a playdate at the park.  It was such a nice day!  The first one in a while, so we enjoyed getting out of the house.  Mason isn’t big enough to play with the other kids, but he enjoyed watching them!  Later, we had dinner with family for my Dad’s birthday at Caraba’s.

Well he did it!  He finally rolled over on Sunday (2-21-10)!!!

Counting my Blessings February 23, 2010

There has been so much grief and sadness going on around me over the past 3 years.  So many people I’ve been close to have been hurt.  It makes me sit back and look at my life and be thankful for the many blessings I have.  I am lucky enough to still have all of my Grandparents, my Parents, and all my Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.  I have a Fiance’ who is healthy, treats me with respect, and works hard to support me and our Son.  I have a beautiful, healthy, happy little boy, and I am blessed to have been able to stay at home with him through his first 5 months.

My life may not be perfect, but I am truely blessed.

Okay, so I know I said I was gonna post every day.  However, I didn’t realize how hard that would be to do.  Often I don’t even touch the computer for days at a time.  I just don’t have the time with an infant.  Especially a teething infant!  But I do take my photos, and I will try my best to post daily.  Here is my “catch up” post.

Sat, Feb 13…

We spent the day in the mountains attending my cousins wedding.  Mason was very good, and took up with my Uncle Nathan.  He also got his first taste of icing… Nathan fed him some of the wedding cake icing.  He loved it, but I’m not gonna let him have very much of that!

We didn’t do anything special, just spent a lazy day at home with the family.  Happy Valentine’s Day!

Just woke up from his nap, and in a great mood!  He has recently started talking and singing to himself when he wakes up instead of crying.  He has also found his feet, and loves to play with his toes and try to put them in his mouth!
